What Does It Mean

What does it mean to be a Ghostskate Coach?

The goal of the Ghostskate coach program is to build a group of community members who are passionate about supporting the local skateboarding community.  The coaches are given training in holding group skates around park areas and on bike paths throughout the city.  This training includes how to conduct a safe group, teaching the basics of how to skateboard and creating a positive environment which never leaves a member behind.

Ghostskate coaches work in pairs to hold community events.  Each team of coaches work together to schedule their event, conduct a safe & open group skate, and document the event with a few group photos.

For 2017, Ghostskate is holding 3 regular events a month for the 8 month season in NYC.  We are looking for coaches who are active in the the New York City skateboarding community and would like to see it grow.  You must be over 18 years old to become a couch.

The coaches are compensated with $25 for each group skate they help host.  As Ghostskate grows we would also like to add first aid and other training to the coaches abilities.  We are working on increasing the coaches compensation and training by actively fundraising for this year’s skate season.
