I started longboarding after walking home one day and seeing a young kid, about the age of 10, and his little brother doing Coleman slides near Union Square. I went home to Youtube it, not knowing what they were using to slide or riding on. I just knew they were not on skateboards. I landed on a Freeboarding video and thought to myself this is cool but crazy and is not what the kids were doing. The next video I saw was Originals "Longboarding Freeride" I said to myself "this is it! I am doing this!" I went to the Longboard Loft, grabbed a board, it was a sector 9 which was the only brand I heard of. I went to central park and just started to skate as if I had been riding for years naturally, after never even being on a skateboard. That day I met Solomon Lang, he told me about the Broadway Bomb race which was coming up. Two weeks later, I skated my first Broadway Bomb, finishing in 40 minutes. That is when I knew I was hooked and my lifestyle would change forever.
My favorite place to skate is in traffic, I love skating with the concrete kings and helping promote push culture. I am originally from Miami, FL I am an Art Director and Designer so I created Ghostskate New York to show the world the lifestyle that longboarding in New York city created. Pushing your board through the street is like surfing on concrete; it brings you in tune with the city. I have skated every burrow and every part of New York and I want to share my experience with the world.
